The Supreme Court of India imposed a fine of Rs.1 Lakh upon the Union of India in an appeal, which Supreme Court finds unnecessary litigation as similar matters dismissed by the Supreme Court earlier. Further, the Supreme Court observed that it added burden to the justice delivery system. After dismissing the appeal, Supreme Court opined that the Union must frame a litigation policy.
