On the lines of the suggestions given in the order passed by Hon’ble Madras High Court in the matter of W.P. (MD) Nos. 17724 and 2706 of 2018 dated 16.02.2018 whereby the court has directed the Bar Council of India to consider whether it is possible to appoint a few more retired judges of High Court as observers along with Mr. Justice G.M. Akbar Ali, Returning Officer and the Special Committee members, so as to monitor the elections effectively and to conduct the election without any problem, the Council deems it fit unanimously to appoint Mr. T. Mathivanan, Retired Judge, Madras High Court as Additional Returning Officer to assist Mr. Justice G.M, Akbar Ali, Retuning Officer and the Special Committee to look into the elections and further requests/directs the Special Committee of Bar Council of State of TN & Puducherry to further appoint both observers for election of State of TN, 2018. The Returning Officer should consult with Special Committee on/for issues, if any, relating to the elections.”
